Editorial Policy
MoNews aims to make business and sports stories easier to understand through clear, source-led explainers and profiles. Accuracy, useful context and honest presentation take priority over a dramatic headline or a publishing target.
Evidence and sourcing
Important factual claims should be supported by sources that readers can identify. Prefer original material such as official records, company filings, direct announcements, published research and established sporting records. A company biography can establish what a company says, but is not independent confirmation of every claim it makes.
Use reputable secondary reporting for additional context and cross-check consequential or disputed claims. Check that a source supports the specific wording, date and scope of the statement. A source list should not substitute for links placed near important claims.
Do not invent interviews, quotations, personal experience, credentials, statistics or relationships. If evidence is incomplete or conflicting, make the limitation clear or leave the claim out.
News, explanation and opinion
Make the nature of each article clear. Reported facts, attributed statements and editorial interpretation should be distinguishable. Headlines and introductions must accurately reflect what the article establishes. Avoid implying a collaboration or connection simply because two people appear in the same article.
Use dates where they matter. Distinguish a historical role or announcement from a current position. Do not describe material as breaking news, exclusive reporting or a first-hand account without the evidence to support that label.
AI assistance and responsibility
MoNews uses AI assistance to organise research and prepare text and illustrative assets. AI-generated material is a starting point for verification, not a source in itself. Names, numbers, quotes, dates, references and claims about living people require checking against the underlying evidence.
This workflow does not establish that an article has been reviewed by a journalist, lawyer or subject specialist. Do not claim human or expert review unless it actually occurred and the responsible person can be identified accurately. The publisher remains responsible for approving what appears on the site.
Images and visual accuracy
Use original, licensed or otherwise authorised images and retain the source and usage conditions. Captions should identify meaningful context and required credits. Label generated illustrations clearly and do not present them as photographs of a real event or as proof of product testing. Alternative text should describe the image rather than repeat keywords.
Commercial interests
Any paid placement, sponsorship, affiliate relationship or other material commercial interest associated with an article must be disclosed clearly where readers will see it. Advertising should be distinguishable from editorial material. Never promise favourable coverage in exchange for payment or conceal a relevant relationship.
Fairness, privacy and useful limits
Give allegations and disputed accounts appropriate attribution and context. Avoid unnecessary personal details, speculation about private lives and language that goes beyond the evidence. Financial, health, legal and safety topics require extra care and suitable sources; general editorial coverage is not personalised professional advice.
Corrections and updates
Correct substantiated factual errors and explain changes that materially affect meaning. An update adds new information; a correction fixes something that was wrong. Keep those distinctions visible rather than silently rewriting a significant error. For a factual correction, email admin@MoNews.co.uk with the article address and supporting evidence.
These standards apply to MoNews content preparation and publication. They do not imply that every historical article has completed a fresh review.
